This paper explores national minority issues in the enlarged European Union. The author states that with some of new members and accession states representing "regions" of strong national minority identities, the EU may be facing new challenges of integrating diversity. Therefore, the EU is not only confronted with problems of how to integrate new economies and polities but must also contemplate the accommodation of new identities. In conclusion, the study presents findings based on country cases with focus on sub-state "national minority regions."
