The purpose of this document is to provide the ways and means by which the US military will advance enduring national interests and to accomplish the defense objectives. The vision is a Joint Force that provides military capability to defend the US and its allies, and to advance broader peace, security, and prosperity. The strategy emphasizes how the Joint Force will redefine America’s military leadership to adapt to a challenging new era. It advances three themes, which are paramount for the Joint Force: the importance of the leadership approach; deeper security relationships with allies and partners; an increasingly dynamic and uncertain future
