The document lays out the UK's 2008 National Security Strategy. Its aim is to address and manage the diverse though interconnected set of security challenges and underlying drivers, both immediately and in the longer term, to safeguard the nation, its citizens, its prosperity and way of life. The strategy sets out the guiding principles to national defense and analyzes the security challenges to the United Kingdom. Then, it outlines the UK’s response across government to each of the major security challenges and sets out a framework for targeting defense resources in the future.
