2009 was one of the most difficult years in the whole history of the Ukrainian Armed Forces due to the reduced budget. Despite this the process of upgrading and professionalization in the armed forces continued. Summarizing the armed forces’ activity in 2009 the authors firmly state that the armed forces are able to fulfill their main constitutional task to defend the State sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of the state borders of Ukraine.
