This white paper discusses the threefold objective of the government of Spain with regards to the armed forces: to secure Spain a position as a member of the western community fully integrated into the Atlantic Alliance; its firm commitment to European security; and the adoption of a new model of Armed Forces based on the total professionalization of its members.
