This document sets out South Africa's strategic statement and budget commitments to the Defence Department for the years 2011-2016. It stresses the DOD's commitment to safeguarding a better life for the people of South Africa and to contribute to freedom from fear and want. It also provides an overview of the strategic focus of the Defense Secretariat, while further providing insights into the performance information that spells out the operationalization of the Defence Secretariat’s mandate. In the final section of the Annual Performance Plan, resource plans and their implementation are discussed.
