This document sets out South Africa's strategic statement and budget commitments to the Defence Department for the years 2011-2016. It stresses the DOD's commitment to defending and protecting South Africa, its sovereignty, its territorial integrity, its national interests and its people, while further emphasizing the country's objective to promote peace, security and confidence-building in the SADC region and the rest of the continent through constructive dialogue aimed at nurturing sound Defence diplomatic relations and projecting South Africa's foreign policy principles and objectives.
