The 2009 national security strategy of Serbia sets out the country's main strategic goals in the field of security. The strategy provides an analysis of the environment of Serbia, identifies security challenges, risks and threats, establishes national interests, sets goals of national security policy and defines the structure, principles of the functioning and accountability within the security system. It confirms the commitment of Serbia to general democratic values and international law, and expresses Serbia's willingness to contribute, within the UN, European and other international and regional structures, to the development and improvement of its own, regional and global security.
