This 2001 document elaborates the security strategy of Slovakia in the area of defense of the state, thus replacing the 1994 defense doctrine and the 1996 national defense strategy. This strategy's main objective is to allow for a transition to securing the defense of the state within the framework of NATO, by taking into account Slovakia's security environment and defense resources, by initiating and regulating the reform of the country's defense system and planning process on the national level, and by creating new conceptual documents and legal standards in the area of the defense of the state.
