In 1998, for the first time in its history, the Argentine Republic published a comprehensive official book about its National Defense. This document describes the main achievements and projects that, starting in 1989, gave rise to changes in the Argentinian National Defense System and, particularly, in the Nation's Armed Forces. It discusses the reorganization of the military and the development of confidence-building measures with neighboring countries, while further highlighting Argentina's involvement in peacekeeping missions sponsored by the United Nations and other international organizations.
