The purpose of this strategy is to outline Hungarian national interests, to analyze the country's security environment and to identify risk factors and challenges. It argues that Hungary is not threatened by military aggression and the risk of any other traditional type of threat is minimal, both largely thanks to Euro-Atlantic security co-operation. At the same time, new challenges and threats have emerged that can only be effectively addressed through a governmental stance that coordinates the national efforts, and a well-focused development of our capabilities and their flexible application, as well as through wide-ranging international cooperation.
