This paper discusses the planned defense reform – from individual to collective security – and Bosnia and Herzegovina's security environment and sets out the country's defense policy. It stresses the importance of the Partnership for Peace, NATO, bilateral and multilateral cooperation programs and regional cooperation in South East Europe. It also discusses internal reforms like the strengthening of the democratic control of armed forces, transparency in defense planning and budgeting and it sets out the mission, organization and command and control of the armed forces.
