Publication

This strategy statement sets out the key strategies that will be pursued by the Irish Department of Defence and the Defence Forces from 2011 to 2014. A major focus is to ensure that the defense policy is responsive to emergent changes in the defense and security environment. In addition, this strategy statement addresses the challenges facing the organization in maintaining the required capabilities and outputs. It charts a way forward that builds on the modernization of the armed forces that has been achieved over an extended period of time. The formulation and publication of a new white paper on defense is also provided for in this strategy statement.
