This Brunei defense white paper update identifies specific planning actions to help defend the country's interests and promote a more active regional role. The paper puts more emphasis on strengthening interaction, developing response mechanisms to major security crises and enhancing the army's capability to participate in regional and international peace support and humanitarian relief missions. The main focus is shaping the army into a force capable of responding to a wide range of challenges (including natural disasters) more rapidly and effectively, interoperability and mobility.
