This document presents the second updated version of New Zealand's Long-Term Development Plan. As a planning tool, it enables decisions on defense acquisitions to be taken in the context of the Government's defense policy, while further providing insights into the priority of projects and their affordability. As such, the document establishes a link between the country's defense policy objectives and the capability requirements of national security. The second update further contains a comprehensive list of projects, with preliminary costing, timings, and priorities. It has a rolling forward focus over 10 years and was constructed as an active document, to be updated regularly.
