The defense white paper lays out a blueprint of the strategic and defence challenges for New Zealand with an emphasis on the improvement of the country's defense forces. It sets out the future strategic direction for the New Zealand Defence Force, provides a framework for reform, and outlines how New Zealand can get the best value for money from the defense budget. In addition, the White Paper looks at global security, the challenges New Zealand is likely to face, and what resources and capabilities the defense force will need to protect and advance New Zealand's interests.
