The defense strategy presents Norway's security objectives, defense policy objectives, areas of governmental focus and international and national cooperation. It also sets out the defense structure and activities that support these objectives. The strategy stresses the importance of peace, stability and development, as well as of the international rule of law for Norway's security. Norway's main objectives are preventing war and the emergence of threats to Norwegian and collective security, to protect Norwegian rights and interests, freedom of action and Norway, its allies and NATO against assaults and attacks of state and non-state actors.
