This edition focuses on Russia’s policy towards the Middle East. Firstly, Mark N. Katz examines the way that Putin’s Russia seeks to maintain good relations with multiple regional actors that consider one another as adversaries, and the limits to this policy. Secondly, Nikolay Kozhanov considers the Russia-Saudi Arabia relationship, noting that the efforts to promote better relations between the two have not as yet been derailed by various stress-tests in their relations.
