Debates about the onset, termination, and recurrence of civil wars commonly address the power relations and political arrangements that exist between adversaries. The dataset presented here contributes to these debates by introducing “novel variables” in the analysis of 48 civil wars that ended between 1990 and 2012. The variables include post-civil war military balances of power and political compromises, which do impact the durability of peace.
