Karin Hess is a Researcher and provides management support to the Head of the Center for Security Studies (CSS) Think Tank Dr. Daniel Möckli.
Prior to joining CSS, Karin worked for the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs at the Swiss Embassy in Beijing, where she focused on Chinese foreign and domestic policies and supported the Swiss delegations at the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. She also undertook the Junior Professional Program (JPP) with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) in Geneva, supporting negotiations and conducting trade analysis. Her research interests lies at the intersections of global security and geoeconomics.
Karin holds a BA in Chinese Studies (major) and Political Science (minor) from the University of Zurich and a Dual Master’s degree in public policy from the universities of Sciences Po in Paris and the London School of Economics.
