Edward Jackson

Edward Jackson is a Senior Program Officer in the Mediation Support Team at the Center for Security Studies (CSS), ETH Zurich. He works on the Ceasefire Project - a joint initiative with the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), supported by the European Union.

From 2020 to 2025, Edward served with the United Nations Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY), based in Amman as a Political Affairs Officer and in Aden as Head of Office. He initially joined the UN as a Security Sector Reform Officer and was closely involved in the planning and implementation of the 2022 nationwide truce.

Between 2008 and 2020, he worked across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia with international NGOs, development consultancies, and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, including diplomatic postings to the British Embassies in Sana’a and Dubai.

Edward holds an MSc in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science and an MA (Hons) in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of St Andrews.
