Dr. Kit Rickard is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the Political Science Department at University College London (UCL). His research spans international relations, peace studies, and comparative politics, and primarily concerns three themes: international security, civil war dynamics, and the legacies of war.

His research is primarily concerned with the international dimension of civil wars, tackling questions of why, when, and how the international network of states intervene in foreign civil wars and their impact on rebel dynamics. He also investigates the legacies of civil war, focusing on communal legacies of informal rule and state-society relations in Northern Ireland. Finally, Kit employs innovative quantitative designs to study public opinion in the former-Soviet space, with a particular focus on Ukraine.
