Ivan Zaccagnini is a researcher at the Center for Security Studies at ETH Zurich. He is actually enrolled in a joint Ph.D. programme between the external page LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome and the external page Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Brussels.

He was teaching assistant for International Relations and Political Risk Analysis at the Department of Political Science at LUISS University. Since 2020, he worked as Research Assistant at the Center for International and Strategic Studies (CISS-LUISS). With the financial support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, he co-authored two studies on military drones and the hider-finder competition in air warfare. Ivan graduated from Roma Tre University in Rome with an M.A. in International Relations: Peace, War, and Security. His research interests focus on Emerging and Disruptive Technologies, Future of Warfare and Great Power Competition. The provisional title of his thesis is “Fight for Europe: The Dynamic Sequence of Wedging and Binding Strategies over Key Technological Sectors (2010-2024).”
