This issue of BPSR first features three articles that contemplate 1) the contested concept of republican democracy; 2) a comparison of Argentina’s and Brazil’s presidencies since the 1980s; and 3) the limits of free speech. The journal then contains three additional pieces on Brazil’s 2014 elections. They specifically look at 1) the Brazilian party system; 2) the governability challenges of Brazil’s Congress; and 3) the impact of conditional cash transfers in four presidential elections (2002-2014).
