This paper discusses the politicization of peacebuilding efforts. The author contends that arguments against and for the politicization of peacebuilding are in fact congruent. Concerns over the politicization paradoxically co-exist with concerns over the depoliticization of peacebuilding and aid. The author calls for re-engagement with politics, arguing that political differences, realities and antagonisms should be openly addressed and integrated into peacebuilding programs.
