There certainly exists some logic behind India, Japan and the US working together in a region that lacks a solid security architecture. China's increasingly belligerent posture in the South China Sea and the perceived 'decline' of overall US influence is likely to have driven both India and Japan to sculpt a reformed partnership with the US. In view of a fiscally restrained environment, the US on its part also appears keen on sharing the burden of securing the region.
