This case study critically evaluates donor support for political parties in Nigeria. Although, in theory, political parties play a central role within well-functioning democracies, the reality in the developing world is that political parties are often weak and disconnected from the policy process. With this in mind, new research was undertaken into international assistance to political parties and party systems. This case study forms part of this research and is based on fieldwork conducted in Abuja, Nigeria in May 2010.
