This publication presents the key trends in the Russian debate on China. The first part presents the background to the debate, the key changes which have taken place on Russian-Chinese relations since 2008. The next chapters describe selected aspects of the Russian debate: the evaluation of the increase in China's significance, the evaluation of the new balance of power in bilateral relations, and visions for the development of Russian-Chinese relations. The last section contains an analysis of the Russian debate’s impact on Russia’s perception of and policy towards the West.
