This briefing paper builds details recommendations for enhancing civil society participation in Somalia. The recommendations reaffirm the goals of supporting civil society and public participation; building trust between groups; and finally, supporting regional, bottom-up state building and peace processes. The recommendations specifically address the role of civil society in political, security and judicial reform processes and its further involvement in combating sexual and gender-based violence.
