This brief examines the potential ways in which India could join the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG). The author argues that India should be admitted to the NSG, in line with the US position, on the basis of its commitment to non-proliferation principles; it also argues that India should reject a criteria-based process that that would favor the admission of Pakistan. The brief also addresses the nuclear cooperation between China and Pakistan, and considers the extent to which India and other states benefit from New Delhi's NSG membership.
