This commentary argues that claims which suggest the Syrian Druze community is shifting its support to the opposition are wrong. The author contends that Sheikh al-aql Hinawi, the most influential Syrian Druze public figure, is gravitating toward a more neutral position. While dissidents are hopeful that Hinawi will eventually go further and explicitly call on soldiers to put down their weapons, it's very difficult to tell if that's where things are heading.
