This paper examines the Battle of Plattsburgh in 1814 which marked the turning point in the War of 1812. The author examines the US military's strategy in attacking Canada and the failed defense and diversion tactics used by the British. He argues that the battle in Plattsburgh allowed for more effective negotiation efforts to end the war than any other battle at the time.
