This note examines US options for an effective strategy in Southeast Asia. The author reflects the lack of US attention to the region after the Vietnam War until Obama's presidency. He continues by outlining the challenges of creating a sound strategy and gives a set of recommendations on ways the US can effectively counter Chinese ambitions in the region.
