Saferworld submitted this report in order to shape the UK Defence Committee’s debate on the future of Britain’s overall conflict prevention and intervention strategy. By drawing on their practical experiences, the report's authors initially explore policies that would enhance conflict prevention, including those that center on security sector reforms, sexual violence prevention, the curtailing of conventional arms transfers, and the anticipatory use of armed unmanned aerial vehicles. They then explore the potential roles defense actors could play in a whole-of-government approach to conflict intervention and where they should ideally perform them.
