This briefing examines the local-level mechanisms for cooperation between the police and public on communities’ security, and the effectiveness of these measures in Kyrgyzstan. In particular, it focuses on the two most widespread mechanisms for such cooperation: reporting meetings between neighborhood police officers and the public as well as Local Crime Prevention Centres. It also includes recommendations for Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs on how to improve these reporting meetings to increase police accountability.
