This paper talks about US commitments in relation to its extended nuclear deterrence and expectations among allies. Among other issues, the author explores the issues facing NATO and focuses on the UK-US security relationship around Trident. He then argues that that the US should not necessarily support the independent nuclear capability of its allies, including the UK, but to ensure that each ally should focus on how it can contribute to NATO alliance.
