This paper provides an overview of nuclear weapon-free zones (NWFZ) and corresponding agreements in the world. In particular, the author discusses the relevance of such zones for Europe, the main provisions NWFZ treaties entail, and what lessons can be learned from NWFZ for confidence building and constraints on military activities in Europe.
