This brief explores China’s relationship with South Sudan. At present, Beijing's approach is dominated by a reactive, short-term focus on conflict resolution. With time, however, it could embrace long-term conflict prevention as its policy, especially if it exploits 'potential entry points' with like-minded nations such as the UK.
