This briefing argues that the women, peace and security (WPS) agenda – which aims to ensure women can meaningfully participate in local, national and global policy discussions around peace and security issues – is crucial to US foreign policy interests. However, the author also highlights that the WPS agenda is now under threat due to the policy approaches of the Trump administration, and that as a result, its future role in US foreign policy is now uncertain.
