This paper examines processes that determine the situation in Chechnya. Specifically, it considers the evolution of the conflict from the Chechen national liberation war to a Caucasian jihad. Additionally, it discusses the phenomenon of the "hidden" Chechen separatism. The author concludes with a forecast on political developments in Chechnya in the short and long term.
