This paper looks at Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and allegations concerning its involvement in terrorist activities. It comments on the ISI's position in Pakistan's security and political system, reviews the terrorist attacks of July 2008 in Afghanistan and Pakistan before the backdrop of possible ISI involvement and describes the organization in historical perspective. Furthermore, the paper explores geopolitical implications of the war on terror and the US operations in Afghanistan. The author argues that it is in Pakistan’s interest to strive hard to crush all networks and organizations that may be involved in terrorism.
