This paper explores key issues of the relations between India and Bangladesh. It carefully examines those areas critical to northeast India's potential engagement with Bangladesh and other countries in the region. It also examines whether China's engagement with Bangladesh goes beyond economic interests and reviews problems related to trade and transit. The author argues that a growth quadrangle comprising Bangladesh, the Yunnan province of China, Myanmar and northeast India can change the economic geography in this part of the world.
