The Manhattan Institute (MI) is an independent, nonprofit think tank that dedicates itself to 1) shaping American political culture, and 2) developing and disseminating new ideas that "foster economic choice and individual responsibility." The Institute pursues these goals by questioning and challenging public policies in a number of areas, including taxes, health care, energy, law enforcement and the law, homeland security and more.
