Ein nichtständiger Sitz im UNO-Sicherheitsrat: Wissensgewinne und deren Management in den Verteidigungsministerien der Niederlande, Deutschlands, Belgiens und Norwegens

Switzerland has been a member of the UN Security Council since 2023, characterized by geopolitical tensions and global crises. Despite these challenges, the Security Council has been able to make important decisions with Swiss participation. In his study, Fabien Merz examines the learning effects and the increase in knowledge of the Swiss defense ministries and compares these with the experiences of selected Western European countries. Semi-structured interviews with representatives of the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and Norway defense ministries provide insights into the handling and long-term integration of these learning effects. The study assesses how such experiences can contribute to strengthening Swiss foreign and security policy, especially in view of the end of the SR membership in 2024 and the sustainable use of the lessons learned for national strategies.
