CSS Brown Bag Webinar: “COVID-19: Origin of the New Coronavirus and Countermeasures”

The origin of the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has still not been conclusively clarified. During the CSS Brown Bag Webinar on 14 May 2020, Michèle Gemünden, Senior Researcher in the Euro-Atlantic Security Team, explained why there is widespread scientific agreement that the virus originated in nature and is not man-made. The development of a vaccination plays a key role in containing the pandemic caused by the virus. Possible vaccinations are already being tested in clinical trials, which raises hopes of an early availability. Until then, masks can help contain the pandemic by reducing the risk to those around oneself. However, hygiene measures must be followed correctly and wisely.
