Recently, China has increased its military activities in the Indian Ocean Region, expanding the range of its navy westward. It has invested in port facilities in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Burma. Beijings economic initiatives have raised concern in the West about Chinas long-term geopolitical strategy.
