Is world politics a competition between democrats and dictators? Does history show that great power rivalry is inevitable? Is China aiming for world domination? As the COVID-19 pandemic has increased tensions between the world’s great powers, it is more important than ever for the United States, China, Russia and the European Union to build peace. But what strategies should they use to reduce rivalries and maintain stability?

Sven Biscop, Director of the Europe in the World Programme at the Egmont-Royal Institute for International Relations in Brussels and Professor at Ghent University, will present his book «Grand Strategy in 10 Words: A Guide to Great Power Politics in the 21st Century», in which he introduces ten intriguing key terms to show how the great powers shape their strategic decisions today. Henrik Larsen, Senior Researcher in the Swiss and Euro-Atlantic Security Team will comment on the book. Michiel Foulon will moderate the event. He is a Senior Researcher on US-China Relations and US Grand Strategy towards China at the Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zürich.
