The European Union Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR) was launched on 2 December 2004 and succeeded the NATO-led Stabilisation Force (SFOR). Its purpose is to ensure a safe and secure environment within the country, prevent a resumption of violence, and manage any residual aspects of the General Framework Agreement for Peace, and thereby allow all EU and IC actors to carry out their responsibilities.
