The Institute for State Effectiveness (ISE) concentrates on developing integrated approaches to governance and institution-building, while also keeping in mind the necessary balance that has to be kept between state, market and civil society forces in each context. ISE also provides policy advice to the international community and those national leaders who are tasked with creating effective states in a globalized world.
