The United Nations Alliance of Civilization (UNAOC) is a high-level group of experts formed by former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan to explore the roots of polarization between societies and cultures today, and to recommend a practical program of action to address this issue. The aim of the Alliance is to support, through a network of partnerships, the development of projects that promote understanding and reconciliation among cultures globally and, in particular, between Muslim and western societies. The Alliance works in four program areas to support such projects: youth, media, education and migration.
